As part of the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen the Department of Neurology performs the task of research and teaching in cooperation with the University Hospital of Gießen and Marburg Ltd. On the basis of cooperation agreements the management and medical service of the Department of Neurology of the Lahn-Dill Hospital in Wetzlar and of the Stroke Unit of the Gesundheitszentrum Wetterau in Friedberg are also provided by our neurologists.
The diversified tasks of clinical care, of research and teaching are covered actually by more than 40 physicians, over 120 hospital nurses and 11 MTD. It is our mission to provide highest level medical care for our ambulatory and in-patients with neurological diseases. To keep up the highest standard of medical care academic members of the staff are engaged in basic and clinical research and set up innovative care projects. The scientific profile of our department includes cerebrovascular diseases, neuroimmunology, and topics of the neurological intensive care medicine as well as movement and behavioural disorders.
We wish to attract the interest of medical students by introducing them to the exciting world of Neurology in seminars, work-shops and lectures. Furthermore, we offer physicians specialised in the field of Neurology advanced training on a large scale.
